Case Study: Maintenance and Development of the PayEye Website – Innovation Through Eye Payments

Project Goal

The aim of the project was to take over and continue the development of PayEye’s complex website – a company offering groundbreaking biometric eye-payment technology. A key challenge was to ensure continued, stable evolution of the platform in a fast-paced tech environment.

About the Client & Product

PayEye is a tech company and global pioneer in eye-payment technology. Their proprietary solution combines a mobile application with biometric terminals, enabling users to pay simply by looking. With a focus on innovation, convenience, and security, PayEye sets a new global standard for seamless transactions in both physical and digital experiences.

Scope of Work

The project began with a complete handover of the client’s website, which was fully absorbed in just one day – including technical knowledge transfer and project onboarding. Since then, the collaboration has taken the form of continuous technical maintenance and development.

Key ongoing tasks include:

  • Fixing bugs and system optimization,

  • Developing new sections and pages,

  • Adjusting content and layout,

  • Performing technical maintenance and updates,

  • Providing ongoing support for the e-commerce platform (WordPress + WooCommerce).

Key Challenges

The most significant challenge was taking over a large and highly customized project with no documentation and minimal transition. The site contained a variety of unique components and logic that had to be understood, updated, and extended – all without disrupting the live system.

Technologies Used

This website was built with WordPress, using the Timber theme and Twig templating engine. The stack includes:

  • SCSS and JavaScript (frontend),

  • Svelte for interactive forms,

  • MJML for email templates,

  • Stripe integration (prepared, but not launched in production).

  • WooCommerce

Outcomes

  • Full project takeover and onboarding completed within a single day.

  • Continuous development with zero downtime and consistent feature delivery.

  • Ongoing support for the client’s online store – updates, fixes, improvements.

  • Exceptionally high client satisfaction – proprietary Satisfaction Survey system has shown a consistent 10/10 rating since the start of the project (nearly two years).

  • Stable, long-term collaboration with a focus on quality and agility.

Summary

The PayEye project demonstrates that even complex, undocumented systems can be efficiently adopted and transformed into a successful, long-term collaboration. Thanks to flexible processes, strong technical skills, and effective communication, the platform continues to evolve while supporting a company that is reshaping the future of payments.
